It is a common misconception that wolves are blood-thirsty killers.  In fact, there has never been a documented case of a healthy wolf making an unprovoked attack on a human.  Then main reason wolves were killed was because humans killed all of their natural prey and used the land for grazing.  Since the wolf no longer had any natural prey, they were forced to start killing cows and other livestock for their survival.

It is known that the people once put in charge of exterminating the wolf are now charged with their preservation and reintroduction of the wolf to the lower 48 states.

Just to look into the eyes of the wolf is to now of their great intelligence.  The wolf is part of the scientific group called canidae.

On these pages you will find useful information and links on the Wolf.  Much of the information on these pages can be found in the book "The Wolf Almanac" by Robert H. Busch.

On this site I hope to be able to educate you about the evolution of the wolf species.  I also have wolf taxonomy information for both North America and Europe. I have a nice gallery of wolf pictures. The wolves habitat is looked at on my Distribution page.  I am working on adding additional content in the next few months, I will be adding additional content including: Populations, Re-introduction of the wolf to the Northwest in the United States.
